MECHANICAL - ULTRASOUND
All Swiss manufacturers follow the Geneva Standards for cleaning watch mechanisms. The standards call for disassembling the watch into its individual components, inspecting each part, and then cleaning the parts simultaneously by ultrasonic and mechanical means. After cleaning, the parts are reassembled in stages and lubricated to the manufacturer's specifications.
DISASSEMBLING
(100 - 2,877 [VC Berkley GC] parts depending on caliber of watch)
The Geneva Standards for cleaning watch mechanisms require that each movement be disassembled into its individual components, inspected, and then placed in cleaning baskets. Once placed in the cleaning machine, the individual parts are cleaned simultaneously by ultrasonic and mechanical means. The process in the pictured machine is as follows: 15 minutes in chamber A, 15 minutes in chamber B, 15 minutes in chamber C, and then 30 minutes in the drying chamber with heat.
ASSEMBLING
After cleaning, the watch mechanism is reassembled in stages and lubricated to the manufacturer's specifications. During reassembly, all parts are inspected again for wear and damage. Any parts that do not pass our assessment are replaced with new factory parts.
